GTA's Laurel, Maryland office is looking for a Project Geotechnical Engineer with over 5 years of experience in Maryland and Washington, DC. Ideal candidates should be experienced in managing complex projects, writing proposals, conducting geotechnical explorations, preparing reports, drafting, and performing geotechnical analyses.
Other responsibilities for this position are as follows:
- Subsurface investigations including test borings, cone penetration testing, and test pits, reviewing exploration logs, lab results, and plans.
- Analysis of bearing capacity, settlement, earth pressures, pavement section design, and slope stability.
- Analysis, recommendations and design of intermediate to deep foundations and ground improvement for structural support.
- Analysis and design of temporary and permanent earth retention systems.
- Forensic investigation and failure analysis.
- Preparation of geotechnical and stormwater infiltration reports.
- Preparation of temporary and permanent earth retention design plans and submittals.
- Business Development for more senior candidates
Candidates should be prepared for professional growth into such areas as retaining wall design, slope stability analysis, temporary/permanent excavation support design, review of subsurface conditions and foundation design, project management, training of junior staff, and business development at external events.
Requirements:
- BS Degree in civil engineering required. Geotechnical concentration a plus; PE preferred
- MS Degree in geotechnical engineering preferred
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- CADD experience.
- Experience with geotechnical design and analysis software
