Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is looking for a Senior Accountant for our Corporate office in Abingdon, Maryland. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced accounting professional looking to take their career to the next level! Hours of work are 8AM to 5PM with periodic overtime as needed to meet project deadlines. A hybrid work-schedule is available after initial training period.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Assist with month-end closing, including revenue recognition and project variance analysis
  • Prepare financial analyses and reports
  • Prepare revenue projections and forecast expenditures
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts including the following:
    • Fixed asset management: record and document newly acquired fixed assets, ensuring accurate and complete data entry and compliance with GAAP/tax treatment
  • Lease accounting: manage lease accounting processes, including both operating and finance leases, record lease liabilities, right-of-use assets, and related expenses accurately, ensure compliance with lease accounting standards
  • Assist with annual overhead audit
  • Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures
  • Process payroll through third party (Paycor) including reconciliations and reporting
  • Perform other accounting duties and support junior staff as required or assigned

Senior Accountant Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP
  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational and stress management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
  • Ability to train and manage staff
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
