Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician for our Construction Observation & Testing Division in Newark, DE. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing concrete and aggregate testing in accordance with published standards and laboratory policies and procedures. You will also be responsible for record keeping, test reporting, maintaining field and lab equipment and various other duties related to laboratory operations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform data entry, record keeping, test reporting, and other duties.
- Ability to learn and apply ASTM, AASHTO, and other laboratory test procedures.
- Perform testing in the laboratory on construction materials to include Standard and Modified Proctors, sieve analyses, plasticity index tests, soil classification, and other soil, asphalt, and concrete test processing.
- Work in the concrete room prepping and performing tests on concrete cylinders, cores, masonry block, and prisms for compressive strength testing.
- Break cylinders, prisms, and cubes of concrete and masonry.
- Perform maintenance and calibrations on laboratory and field equipment.
- Perform some calculations of test data under supervision of Laboratory Supervisor.
- Assist with data back-checking and corrections.
