Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is hiring a Geotechnical Engineering Field Technician to join our growing team in Little Ferry, NJ! This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in construction observation, geotechnical consulting, or environmental field services.
In this hands-on role, you’ll support geologists, engineers, and scientists on a variety of exciting projects across the private, state, and federal sectors. If you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and learning in the field, we want to hear from you!
Perform field and on-site lab testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials
Conduct moisture and density testing, including nuclear density tests on compacted materials
Collect and prepare samples for laboratory analysis
Work directly with experienced professionals in a collaborative, team-focused environment
High school diploma/GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering a plus!
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
Steel-toe boots and readiness for physical work
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 80 pounds (e.g., concrete samples)
Comfortable with outdoor work, physical tasks, and variable site conditions
Strong work ethic, self-motivated attitude, and team mindset
NICET and/or ACI certifications are a plus—but we’re happy to train the right candidate
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (visa sponsorship not available)
This position involves extended standing, repetitive motions, and various physical tasks such as lifting, crouching, climbing, and kneeling. Full-body movement and mobility are important to safely and effectively perform in the field. GTA will provide you with Personal Protective Equipment, which includes High Visibility Vest, Hard Hat, Gloves, and Safety Glasses.
